Concordia Piano Trio
The Concordia Piano Trio was formed in November 2017 at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama.
The three members, Deva Rossi, José Matias and Tabitha Selley have a wide repertoire including Mozart Trio in B flat major, Beethoven Trio Op 70 No 1 (Ghost), Schumann Trio Op. 110 in G minor, Rachmaninov Trio “Elegiaque” No. 1, Dvorak “Dumky” Trio and Shostakovich Trio No. 2, which are some of their favourites to perform.
They have performed in Masterclasses with the Gould Piano Trio and the Albion Quartet.
Highlight performances include a lunchtime concert in the Dora Stoutzker Hall 2018 and the upcoming concert in Penarth in 2020.
As an ensemble they are very passionate about chamber music and the group enjoys to perform together as friends, hoping to inspire an audience through music.
The Trio has received coaching from many professors at the Royal Welch College such as Nicola Thomas, Richard Ormrod, Simon Philippo, Lesley Hatfield, Robin Green and James Kirby. They also performed for Daniel Tong, head of Chamber Music at the Birmingham Conservatoire and Cordelia Williams, an extraordinary pianist.
The Trio got awarded the Bridgewood and Neizert Chamber Music Prize in June 2018, the Gould Trio competition in 2019 and they were finalists in the McGrenery Chamber Music Prize, a competition for outstanding chamber groups.
José Matias is currently studying with Lesley Hartfield, leader of the BBC Orchestra of Wales, Tabitha Selley with Alice Neary, leader of the cello section in the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, and Deva Rossi with Michael Young, professor at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama.
